Halloween Party!

Halloween in Italy is catching on, but it is no where near as big as it is in the United States.  We had the great fortune of attending a Halloween Party hosted by some American friends on the grounds of an Italian Villa.

There was a wonderful mix of Italian and American children sharing the Halloween excitement.

Since most Italian children do not go trick-or-treating the host set up craft table for children to make their own Halloween bags.  My children however, have been waiting for over a month now to use their Monster Bags!

We all shared a very American dinner of chili, hot dogs, sloppy Joes, and all the trimmings.  As it started to get dark we were lead through a "trick-or-treat" trail that twisted through the grounds of the Villa.

Along the way different spooky and silly characters handed out Halloween treats to the eager children.

The Green Man was handing out my Halloween treat contribution....MONSTER COOKIES!

Afterwards the children roasted marshmallows and ate Smores.

A good time was had by all, I think it was the most Halloween fun I've had since leaving the States!

  1. Oh, that looks like so much fun! I wish I had more American friends around here so that we could do something equally fun. Halloween is slowly but surely catching on over here too. The boys across the street smear themselves with axle grease and red lipstick and stop by pretending to be dead people, but it's mostly because I give out American candy and not out of any sense of trick or treating. They're about the only ones though. The commune is doing something Friday morning (what a time to do it!) where kids can go door to door. The neighbors do seem to appreciate my jack-o-lanterns though.

  2. I thought the trick-or-treat trail was a great way to share the experience of trick-or-treating! Perhaps you could get some other families involved. It was so much fun for the kids!

  4. "So, we had a Halloween party in the garden of an Italian villa . . ."

Ummm, we are not in Kansas anymore, are we?
    Were you ever in Kansas?

  5. I actually was in Kansas...I graduated from the University of Kansas in good 'ol Lawrence...no Italian Villas there :o).
White Kitty will be transformed in to Piglet as she and John go as the costume duo, Piglet and Biglet...there is a story there, I'll share as soon as I finish the costumes!

  6. Love these pictures! It looks like such a great time was had by all. If Italy is anything like Germany was when we were there, Halloween will be a hit--kids everywhere love candy and there is some form of Carnivale in most parts of the world!
